Wendy's, continuing its leadership in introducing flavorful and fresh salads, this week begins offering the Spinach Chicken Salad as a limited time addition to its Garden Sensations salad line. It will be available through the summer months. Featuring baby spinach and crisp romaine, chicken, grape tomatoes, bacon, chopped egg, and garlic croutons, the Spinach Chicken Salad provides today's consumers with a new twist on popular tastes. The salad is an excellent source of protein, iron, vitamin A, vitamin C and a good source of calcium and dietary fiber. Made fresh throughout the day, the Spinach Chicken Salad is served with sweet-and-sour bacon dressing (2.5 grams of fat). As with the other Garden Sensations entr es, dressing and croutons are served on the side. The suggested price for the Spinach Chicken Salad is $3.99 "Wendy's strives to provide our customers with a variety of wholesome food choices," said Lori Estrada, Wendy's vice president of research and development. SPINACH CHICKEN SALAD Wendy's began its tradition of offering innovative salad menu items when it introduced the salad bar nationwide in 1979. In February 2002, the Garden Sensations line of entr e salads was introduced, reflecting changing consumer preferences for salads with bold tastes, flavors, textures and colors. With new ingredients like almonds, grape tomatoes and Mandarin oranges, Garden Sensations features four entr e salads: Mandarin Chicken , Chicken BLT, Taco Supremo and Spring Mix. The introduction of the Spinach Chicken Salad follows the outstanding success of Wendy's Southwest Chicken Caesar Salad, another promotional salad introduced last spring for a limited time. Television, print and radio advertising will support the launch of the Spinach Chicken Salad. Television commercials begin appearing in March 8 and will run through April 7.
